"Photo Memory" is an installation piece I did that emerged from Art Hack Day, a 48-hour art+technology hackathon where participants create a piece centered around a theme, culminating in a public gallery showcase at the end.
The theme of this particular Art Hack Day was 'Erasure'. For my piece, I very much wanted to do some sort of image manipulation of photographs of people, and ended up creating an experience in which participants would take a photo of themselves and watch their unique photograph slowly merge into an averaged collection of every previous photo taken that night.
This was done by setting up a photobooth that when triggered to take a photo, would add it to a running average of all the photos of the night. 180 people took their photo that night and the video you see here is a result of the progression of the average face's evolution.
Done with a laptop, webcam, Unity C# and softbox light.
